UNDER CONSTRUCTION I have worked in the fruit industry for 36 years . From my early years as an itinerat following the seasons around ,working full time at Cotswold Orchard and eventually becoming self employed 6 years ago. I learnt my trade on the job and since going self employed I have expanded my knowledge and moved into other feilds such as orchard conservation work .
I site on the Gloucestershire Orchard Group(G.O.G) with the fancy title of Cheif surveying Officer . My tasks within the orchard group are surveying orchards as part of mapping sheme ,surveying community orchards to assess conditions of existing trees and advise on new trees to plant. We also run a 'Fruit trees for schools project 'which I take a lead role in. Other work within the group consists of liasing with other groups such as wildlife and environmental and we have a good relationship with The Peoples Trust for Endangered Speicies.
I campaign on orchard related issues such as the needles felling of Perry pear trees , recognition of smaller rootstocks as valid environmental trees and preventing damage to trees by livestock .
I do talks on the subject for 'Cultural Societies'.Schools and Community groups along with promoting local tree rippened fruit .
With the promotion of Orchard related Art ,which is displayed in the gallery section, in Galleries around Gloucestershire and Herefordshire and organising Apple day events thats enough about me .
